"Who Will Teach Me to Learn?"

Abstract

There is little research in Canada that examines how youth in care perceive their educational needs, despite the fact that their school difficulties are well documented. This article describes a qualitative participatory research study in which 100 youth in care from across Canada took part in focus groups facilitated by current and former youth in care. Major themes emerging from these interviews are outlined, as are recommendations for practice, policy and further research.
