Abstract

The concept of place attachment and the bonding of people to places relates to the way individual and communal aspects of identity are shaped by the sociophysical environment. This paper refers to child and adult populations; indigenous peoples, migrants, and refugees; former residents of institutional programs and the homeless. It is argued that for all these populations security and identity are influenced by place attach­ ment, which is a form of attachment that warrants our close attention
